L-Phenylalanine and L-Tyrosine are the amino acid building blocks dopamine is made from. L-Phenylalanine converts to L-Tyrosine, which then converts to L-DOPA, the direct precursor to dopamine. Research shows L-Tyrosine may help maintain cognitive function under stress - the conditions under which dopamine is most rapidly depleted.
